Emily Tull - Robin Thread Painting With Hand Stitching

All levels of experience welcome, but some basic experience of stitching preferred.

Emily's workshop is all about bringing craft into the world of art. She will take you from the basics of drawing with stitch to creating a Robin themed thread painting all with hand stitching. Learn about how she creates texture and blending not from a trained/ traditional embroidery background but from a self-taught stitcher with a fine art training.

Investigating mark making looking at the basics of highlights and low-lights moving onto using colour - how we see colour, blending, playing with tension and stitches all done with polyester and cotton sewing threads. You will then be designing your own larger artwork on a wood stretcher, from playing with layering up different fabrics - a mix of patterned and transparent materials to stitching the multi-image Robin to give the feel of a moving bird. This final artwork will be using the techniques used at the very start of the basic drawing and the full colour stitching.

This workshop is all about having fun with fabric and bringing your own personality to your artwork.

All levels of experience are welcome!
